RCS Christmas Program

RCS had their Christmas program.  Mom and Grandma came to watch our little/growing-too-fast girl sing in front of all the adoring fans parents.

She doesn't ever seem like she's nervous before and after a show like this, but during it she does this cute thing with twirling/scrunching/wadding up her dress that suggests otherwise.

Her brother.  Hmmmm.  Love that kid.

Um, he gets a little restless.  Sometimes.  Like after 5 minutes of  attempting to sit still.

So we, meaning his father and I, resort to desperate attempts and tactics to keep him entertained.

Like, give him the camera.

This usually will prolong the attempt at "sitting still" for another 10 minutes or so.

And we usually get some entertaining photos.

He enjoys looking at the pictures that he's just taken.

And admiring the results.

Sometimes we see a little more of him than we were expecting.

But as long as he's quiet and not destroying something, we're okay with it.

Ahhh, the beauty of the Christmas season.

Nathan + camera

I've mentioned our new favorite game around her: the Spy game.  While Sissy is gone, Nathan likes to play a little different version of it which entails just taking pictures of anything and everything his little heart desires.  The camera is on its way to camera-heaven so letting them use it more and more is becoming easier.

Just like Katherine having a favorite subject to photo (herself from the ceiling position), Nathan does too.

Enjoy.

warning: you're about to view more of Nathan's nasal cavities than you ever thought possible nor cared to see

He started out being interested in the ceiling shot, just like his sister.

But something switched and he became interested in watching the shutter click.  I think.

That would be dried ketchup.  Hungry yet?

I am digging the sparkly greenish/brownish eyes though.

He did manage to find other subject matter.

Oh the joy of deleting digital pictures.  Don't think I chose a blurry one on accident.  There were much clearer photos that are now in binary code oblivion.

And then the facial expressions started.

And then the close-ups.

Love the close-up of the fuzzy hairs, N-dog.

So this one took me a minute to figure out.  This one, along with 5 more that were more blurry, had me stumped.  It took scrolling through them all and finally getting to the last one to figure out what it was.  It was the same color as my shirt, but wasn't matching up with anything else I knew of.

The revealing clue...

Congratulations on your daily installment of TMI!  Have a great day!

Our video camera was missing for a little while...

A caution to those with motion sickness. Amateur in training. This may be hard to watch.

I get so tickled watching Nathan's reaction to being told to take the camera back to me. He's compliant at first, then about half way there he realizes it's not what he wants to do, so he starts whining, "noooo", "noooo" and has a pity party on the couch.

Camera Conundrum

I'm a little slow on the updates because (cue the music: the conclusion of Part II of Handel's "Messiah", most well known as the "Hallelujah" chorus)...

I got a new camera, a digital SLR I've been drooling over for at least three years!

This was my Christmas and Birthday present. Short of the "really" important things I want in life like family, health and being loved, this was what I truly wanted. My interest in photography dates back to 8th grade and earlier. My dad bought a SLR camera that he enjoyed tinkering around with and he let me take it on the 8th grade trip to Washington DC. Wow! I must have been really trustworthy or he was hoping I'd destroy it so he could get another one. (just kidding Dad). Taking a good picture has always been a desire of mine.

There's just one problem: I'm still figuring out how to use it.

Here's where I told my mom I feel like an old person. The old camera, although point-and-shoot and not what I really wanted, was very familiar and easy. With a husband, two kids and my normal household duties, figuring out this camera, even uploading the pictures, will take me much longer than I'd like.

So, I've got this fabulous new camera that is so much fun to play with and try to figure out, but I haven't even got to the uploading pictures part yet. We went to the Florida Aquarium in Tampa yesterday and I think a couple pictures are great. Have to do some more homework first. Got some cute pictures of my sister-in-law's baby shower that I'm sure she'd love to see, she'll unfortunately have to wait.

I think I better go read up on uploading pictures. More to come...
