Glowing bathtime

So I don't remember exactly where I saw this idea, but it was a kiddo hit.

The suggestion was to buy glow sticks from the dollar store and use them for fun in the bathtub.  It turns a dark bathroom into a neon-laden bubble-fest.

Seems to make the water glow also.

Earlier that morning, my sleepy heads showed off their mad jabama-wearing, messy-head, cartooning-loving selves.

This one here has a new theme song, just for his hair:

My hair had a party last night,
It musta got into a terrible fight,
Cause when my head hit the pillow it was lookin' all right,
My hair had a party last night.
My hair had a party last night,
When I lay down everything was all right,
It started out friendly but there must have been a fight,
My hair had a party last night.

Big helper

Nathan doesn't fall short in the big helper department either.  He is very good about popping up out of nowhere, just when you think he's deep in playing, and ask, "Mom, what can I do to help you?"

After I usually pick up my heart off the floor, I calmly come up with something he can do to help me and shower him with kisses.

Today he put away the silverware for me and proudly posed for a picture of his helpful handiwork.

Ravines 2013

After our Christmas Day bug fiasco causing the indefinite cancellation of my surgery, we finally got a chance to regroup and come up with a surgery date.  February 7th was the new date and soon after, Jim decided to take our little bundles of energy to the Ravine Gardens in Palatka.  He called Uncle Willet to assist him with the annual pilgrimage and off they went to give me some quiet time to recover.

We've had many other trips over there. Nathan was 18 months the first year we went (2010) and experienced the diaperless-fiasco.  Then Mer went with us the next year during Spring Break when Brandon was in utero.  In 2012 Brandon wasn't walking yet so pushing a stroller around was interesting.  Some years yielded beautiful blooms, some were a tad bit late.  I think this year they were a tad bit early because it was fairly cold.

Nonetheless, they had a good time running around, getting to know Uncle Willet better and making memories.

Uncle Willet is known for his unusual ability to walk very long distances.  So he was the perfect guy for the measly 2-mile trek toting around a toddler half the time.

And I got some much needed post-op rest.

Losin' it

Katherine came home from school with a little extra gift today.

When she was trying to open up her water bottle with her mouth, it jostled her tooth and helped the dangling thread of skin madly still hanging on to break and release its grip on her first lost tooth.

The tooth fairy paid her a visit and did not disappoint.

That was the pillow I used as a kid.  Thought it was cute mom saved it and my little sweetie gets to use it now.

Sweet memories

Just one of those things I decided to slow down long enough to enjoy.
