4 Days of Disney

We really enjoy the 4 days at any of the 4 Disney theme parks for a fraction of their original cost, so here we go again.

Day 1 - Hollywood Studios - January

Looks like I only managed to get one picture of our entire trip and here it is:

Doesn't he look like he's enjoying himself?

Day 2 - Epcot - January

This trip was a little more successful in the picture department.

Although, how is it I always end up looking like this in pictures?

I'm really going to miss his hair when it settles down.

Nathan, be still.  There, that's better.

These lights are so cool at night.  Never noticed them before this night.

Day 3 - Magic Kingdom - April

Seems like every time I get on this ride I get a faulty gun / scoring system.

Priceless.

"Whars dat sound, mommy?"

This is when the silliness began.  A full day, with no naps, waiting for the electrical parade and the silliness hit an all-time high.  It was a long 30-minute wait.

So, we thought we were being smooth by getting to the Monorail before the parade was over, but it just meant our wait was lessened to 30 minutes instead of an hour.

Big girl didn't make it long.

They're going...

 Going...

Gone.

Before Nathan fell asleep he said our all-time quote for the day: "Dad, when we get back to the hotel, I am gonna get on my jabamas, brush my teeth and go to bed because I am TIRED!"

Day 4 - Epcot - April

Latest project

Have I mentioned my latest project?

I'm pretty sure the last time I mentioned something this ridiculous was when I announced that I was going to swim/bike/run my first Triathlon.

I'm reupholstering 2 wingback chairs.

It's taking forever.

I'm educating myself through YouTube videos.  Don't laugh.  They're very educational and helpful.

I bought 2 wingback chairs for $30 back in October.  I said, "Self, how hard can it be?"

Here's what they looked like in November.

Christmas happened.  Bed bugs happened.  My birthday happened.  Life happened.  I got discouraged and started beating myself up for even thinking I could attempt a project this big.  Then, I talked to a friend from waaaaaaay back who did the same thing and she gave me a pep talk.

So, here's what they looked like in April.

I'm still working on them.  I'd say I'm 75% done.  I can't wait until they're done.  It will be the biggest, most significant change in our living room since me wanting to un-man-cave it this time last year.

Did I not mention my desire to un-man-cave the living room?  Oh, it's because I'm wanting to show you the finished "after" pictures and they're not quite there yet.

Baby steps

I'm pretty sure, before kids, I would have been irritated with this.  But through kids, I'm learning how to notice the baby steps and pure intentions in not just little people, but adults as well.

My Nathan, loves Fruit Loops cereal.  His sister is old enough and deft enough to know how to open a box of cereal, pour it into a bowl and pour a half empty gallon jug of milk into the bowl for their breakfast feast.  This has worked well for Mommy some mornings when their wake up time proceeded the one my body was calling for.

What I found so spectacular and awesome about this particular morning, in addition to their independence, was that they knew they needed to seal the cereal bag.  All those dozens of times I said, "you've gotta seal it or it'll be stale and yucky next time you eat it," must've sunk in.  Even though form might need to be fine-tuned, the memory and skill are there.

Baby steps mom.  They're making leaps and bounds, it's me that needs to take the baby steps. :)

A sure sign of normalcy

After the birthday party/Easter sickness marathon, we started to regain some normalcy once again.

Our kiddos started to collect the prolific red & black bugs again.

These little bugs love the chinaberry tree in our neighbors yard behind us and they've exploded in our back yard.  Luckily, they're harmless and easy for our kids to catch and collect.

They even go so far as to create a home, with food, for the ones they collect.

 Ahhhh, normalcy.

A sign of boys

You know you have at least one boy running around your house when you reach for the cup of yogurt to find this...

Two lego-sized swords, carefully placed inside.

Random stuff

Katherine creates a laundry basket train every now and then, and does her best to pull her heavy brothers around.  No wheels on the bottom make for a good work out.

The typical after school snack, with a tad bit more cuteness added in today for good measure.
